I want to argue in this booklet that the relationship between historic Calvinism and biblical evangelism is best understood in terms of “therefore” rather than “nevertheless.” Calvinism is, above all else, a biblical theology. Evangelism is a biblical practice. It stands to reason, then, that Calvinism, when understood and applied properly, would undergird and propel evangelism and missions. Both Scripture and Christian history demonstrate that this is indeed the case.

Description

This booklet addresses a common misunderstanding in evangelical life: that historic Calvinism is at odds with evangelism and missions. It argues instead that, when rightly understood from Scripture, Calvinistic theology provides a strong foundation for gospel proclamation and global missions.

Because Calvinism is fundamentally a biblical theology of salvation, it affirms the sovereignty of God in the saving of sinners while also upholding the clear command of Christ to preach the gospel to all nations. The God who ordains salvation also ordains the means by which it is announced, namely the faithful preaching of Christ. Far from weakening evangelistic zeal, these truths ground it in confidence that God will accomplish His saving purposes.

In this book you will find:
• A biblical defense of Calvinism and evangelism working together
• A clear explanation of God’s sovereignty in salvation and missions
• An emphasis on gospel preaching as God’s ordained means
• Historical examples of Calvinistic missionary conviction
• A call to faithful proclamation of Christ to all peoples
