With clarity, comprehensiveness, and age-appropriate simplicity, Pastor Kelsey shows how the covenant God of Scripture is unimaginably glorious, great, and good—and better yet, how He offers Himself in the gospel to your children to be received by faith.

Description

Family Worship Made Simple!

Family worship is the practice of regularly gathering as a family to study God’s Word, pray, and sing songs of praise. But many parents are intimidated by the thought of leading these elements with their children, and consequently, family worship never gets off the ground in their homes.

The Foundational Truths for Family Worship series was written with the parents who are new to family worship in mind. Each entry is designed to be an all-in-one tool that includes a Scripture reading, brief teaching, prayer, song and hymn verse, and theology question and answer. These elements are not simply an aid to parents, but they are written to be read to your children.

This second volume on The Doctrine of God seeks in fifty-two entries to instill a love for God by studying His nature, attributes, providence, and His act of creation. Whether you are new to family worship or are seasoned in the practice, this series will help you lead your family to worship the living God!

Have you ever felt lost leading family worship? What you need is a guide to walk you through the steps of reading, teaching, prayer, and singing. Here is one such guide for parents seeking to lead their children in the truth of God’s Word. With clarity, comprehensiveness, and age-appropriate simplicity, Pastor Kelsey shows how the covenant God of Scripture is unimaginably glorious, great, and good—and better yet, how He offers Himself in the gospel to your children to be received by faith. Here, then, is a mini-systematic theology of sorts—a simple but faithful theological smorgasbord for you and your children. My prayer is that this book will help you and your family not only know about God, but that it will help you as you seek to know Him and enjoy Him. This guide is helpful both for those who are more experienced in leading family worship as well as those who are just beginning.

The first quarter of the 21st century has seen a wonderful revival of family worship among the followers of Jesus Christ. Along with it has come an unprecedented appearance of books and other resources designed to instruct parents about family worship and/or to give them a toolbox for it. This book falls primarily into the latter category and in a distinctive way. Through teaching, music, and discussion questions, it teaches children about the doctrine of God and guides them in worshipping Him. It is probably best-suited for older children, but Jurkovich writes in a plain and simple style that they can understand. Foundational Truths for Family Worship: The Doctrine of God is a welcome addition to the growing library on family worship now available to the church.

In The Doctrine of God, part of the Foundational Truths for Family Worship Series, Kelsey Jurkovich offers families a theologically rich and accessible resource to grow in their understanding of who God is. Each devotion includes a Scripture reading, a concise and engaging teaching, a suggested prayer, a catechism question, and suggested worship song and a hymn lyric —making it easy to lead your family in meaningful, well-rounded, Christ-centered worship.
